Just resent the sheer amount of American redneck energy in this movie. It's not a subtle display of anything, just plain and trite. Matt Damon plays the toxic masculine dude who "loves in his own ways".
It is at least satisfying because it has two main storylines in the arch, the pursuit both for love and career, one supporting the other. But this sort of movie only can exist in the little box of life it creates, not after you leave the cinema.
